📖 Getting Started

Welcome to the world of Resourceful Sheep! If you are new to the mod, this guide will help you understand the core mechanics and get your first automated resource farm running.

1. Finding Your First Sheep

Resourceful Sheep spawn naturally in the world, just like vanilla sheep. However, their spawning locations depend on their type! For example, Sand or Cobblestone sheep might be found in Plains or Forests, while Netherrack sheep will only be found in the Nether.

2. Feeding & Tempting

Just like normal sheep, Resourceful Sheep need to eat grass to regrow their wool after being sheared. However, different types of sheep might have specific diets! Some might eat grass, while other sheep eat nylium.

To tempt them into a pen or breed them, you will need specific items. While vanilla sheep use Wheat, a Netherrack Sheep might require nether wart!

JEI is your best friend

Use the Just Enough Items (JEI) mod! We have added custom categories that show you exactly what every sheep eats, what items tempt them, and what they drop.

3. Shearing for Resources

Once a sheep's wool is fully grown, right-click it with vanilla Shears. In addition to regular wool, the sheep will also drop its associated resources as Iron Nuggets, Redstone dust, or Diamonds!

4. Natural Breeding (Mutations)

Want a better sheep ? You can crossbreed them! By feeding two different compatible sheep their favorite food, they will breed. If they are compatible, there is a chance they will produce a mutated offspring of a higher tier or a completely different resource type!

Mutation Failure

Mutations are not guaranteed. If a mutation fails, the baby sheep has a 50/50 chance to simply be the exact same type as one of its parents. Check JEI for exact mutation chances!
